The documents for MCJ are all stored on the filesystem in a tree, which makes finding text easy. Recoll is the best local search engine we could find. Here is an example:

For minor corrections it is easy to just open and edit the text directly. If the scripts are running you can just view the page with localhost as you edit, and it will automatically refresh if live.js is configured.

Install via apt:

sudo apt install recoll

At initial run, choose the root to index. Likely, if you are just searching MCJ documents, you will want to choose the source directory:

Skip ^^ files, as these are the version files:

Also add the line:
.md = text/plain
to:
~/recoll/mimemap

This will index and open Markdown files.
